Fundamentals of English

Grades 6-7

Teacher: Krissy Clowe

Description:
Introductory composition, literature, grammar, and vocabulary. The theme for this year is “Good vs Evil.”

Expectations:
In addition to the two days of face-to-face classes, students are expected to work at least two more days under the supervision of the homeschool teacher. Students can expect an average of four hours of reading and composition outside the classroom per week.

Prerequisites:
• 6th-grade reading level.
• New students must register for and attend the HRM Writing Boot Camp
• Students who previously participated in Elementary Explorations may have the placement and Writing Boot Camp waived on the teacher’s recommendation.

Literature: (Rented by HRM for $10 rental fee included on invoice.)

• Tales of the Kingdom by David and Karen Mains
• Number the Stars by Lois Lowry
• Short Story Selections
• Summer Reading: The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo (any copy)

Supplies Needed:
• 3-ring binder
• 5 sectional dividers
• Loose leaf notebook paper
• Pens: black, blue, and red
• Pencils
• Highlighters: green, blue, and yellow
