Economics - Spring Semester Only

Grades 10-12

Teacher: Tommi Lawrence

Description:
This dynamic Spring semester course helps students delve into the world of economics. Students explore the fundamental principles of managing resources, decision-making, and stewardship—all from a Biblical worldview. Real-world applications and discussions will encourage them to see God's design in the systems that sustain our society. Students learn that everything we have is “loaned” to us by God, so we should be good stewards of those resources and use that prosperity to grow His kingdom.
Through the Entrepreneurial Project, students take their creativity and knowledge to new heights. Students design and launch their own businesses, running them for a month to apply principles like supply and demand, opportunity cost, efficiency, market signals, and incentives. All profits go to a charity chosen by the class, inspiring teamwork and purpose while encouraging them to strive for maximum success.
To round out the semester, we’ll dive into a Personal Finance Unit, equipping students with essential skills to manage money wisely, budget effectively, and make sound financial decisions about credit and loans, and hands on knowledge about paying taxes, balancing a check book, writing a check, etc —all through the lens of Christian values.
