Year Round Course
Teacher: Chelsea Lipstreu
Class Description –
This course provides a comprehensive study of the foundational principles of chemistry. Students explore atomic structure, chemical bonding, and the behavior of matter through hands on investigations and guided instruction. Major topics include chemical reactions, stoichiometry, nomenclature, kinetic theory, solutions, acids and bases, chemical equilibrium, organic and biochemistry, and an introduction to nuclear
chemistry.
Emphasis is placed on developing strong problem solving skills, accurate laboratory techniques, and the ability to communicate scientific findings clearly. Students learn to analyze data, balance chemical equations, and apply mathematical reasoning to real world chemical processes.
This is an extended course that meets for three hours per week to allow for deeper instruction, laboratory work, and guided practice.
