Anatomy and Physiology

Grades 11-12

Description:
Study of the systems of the body including Histology, Integumentary, Skeletal, Muscular, Nervous, Endocrine, Cardiovascular, Lymphatic, Respiratory, Digestive, Urinary, and Reproductive systems. This is an extended class meeting for 3 hours per week.

Expectations:
In addition to the two days of face-to-face classes, students are expected to work at least two more days under the supervision of the homeschool teacher. Students must be engaged and actively participate during all class and lab activities. An appropriate maturity level and ability to work independently and in groups is required. Assessments will include tests, labs, quizzes, and article summaries.

Prerequisites:
• Biology
• 15+ years of age required due to the sensitive nature of some topics.

Required Textbooks:
• Anatomy and Physiology, by Suburban Science—Do Not Buy. HRM will print all materials and a $30 printing fee will be included on the invoice.

• Anatomy and Physiology, 2nd ed., by OpenStax—ISBN 9781711494067. Students may use a digital or a hard copy depending on their preference. For digital go to: http://openstax.org/details/books/anatomy-and-physiology-2e. This resource is optional and can be used as a reference or extra practice for review

• Loose leaf notebook paper for class notes
• Pens & pencils
• Colored pencils
• Computer at home
• $45 High School lab fee
