Film School(C. Saucedo)
In this hands-on film class, students will learn how to create their own short film from start to finish. The goal of the course is for each student (or group) to write, film, and edit a completed short film between 1–5 minutes in length.
Students will explore the fundamentals of filmmaking, including idea generation, scriptwriting, basic camera techniques, and video editing. They will also collaborate, problem-solve, and—when needed—participate as actors in each other’s projects, making this a creative and interactive experience.
Each session includes instruction, planning time, filming practice, and editing guidance, helping students build both technical skills and storytelling confidence.
What students will learn:
• Idea development and storytelling for film
• Basic scriptwriting and scene planning
• Camera basics (framing, angles, steady shots)
• Introduction to video editing
• Collaboration and on-camera performance
Requirements:
1. Laptop for video editing
2. A device for filming, such as:
• A digital camera capable of recording video, or
• A used phone dedicated to filming (please do not use a personal daily device)
• The phone must have enough storage available for video recording
• It should be cleared and ready to accept video files
Important:
Please make sure your child knows how to operate their filming device and properly save video files before class begins.
