Creative Writing

Classic (Ages 7-13)

C. Saucedo

No Fees

2nd

This engaging writing class guides students from beginner level through developing writers as they learn to create and complete their own original story. The goal of the class is for each student to progress toward finishing a short book—such as a short story, novelette, or chapter book—while building strong writing fundamentals along the way.
Students will learn how to generate ideas, develop characters, and structure a story with a clear beginning, middle, and end. Through guided lessons and step-by-step support, they will explore dialogue, setting, and simple descriptive techniques, all while maintaining their own creative voice.
Each session includes instruction, writing time, and feedback to help students grow in confidence and skill. By the end of the course, students will have a completed piece of writing and a deeper understanding of the storytelling process.
What students will learn:
• Idea generation and brainstorming
• Basic story structure (beginning, middle, end)
• Character and setting development
• Writing clear sentences and dialogue
• Revising and improving their work
Requirements:
1. Laptop for writing and submitting work (or students may handwrite in a notebook if they wish and type at home).
2. Active email account for teacher feedback and review
This class is perfect for students who want to turn their imagination into a finished story they can be proud of.
