Yearbook and Photography - Fall Semester Only

Description:
In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of photography and visual storytelling while also working behind the scenes to create the school yearbook. Students will practice capturing high-quality images by learning camera basics, composition, and lighting, then apply those skills through photo editing, layout design, caption writing, and introductory journalism. Using digital design tools, students will curate images, create engaging page layouts, and tell the story of the school year through both visuals and written content. This class emphasizes creativity, collaboration, attention to detail, and meeting deadlines while building practical skills in photography, design, and storytelling. Students will work mostly in class, but may occasionally be given outside assignments to accomplish the goal and meet deadlines. REQUIRED: Laptop or Tablet - Students will be provided with a free Canva account. DSLR or Mirrorless Camera (optional). Smartphone with Camera (optional).

Prerequisites:
• Able to work as a team for a goal.

Required Textbooks:
• Canva Software provided by HRM.
