Elective
Logic and Debate
Grades 9-12
Teacher: Tommi Lawrence
Description:
Discover the art of persuasion and the science of reasoning in Logic & Debate! Students will sharpen their minds and elevate their voices as they dive into formal and informal logic, critical thinking, argumentation, and public speaking. Through lively debates and thought-provoking analysis, this course empowers students to confidently articulate their beliefs, defend their viewpoints, and evaluate arguments with clarity and conviction—all grounded in a Christ-centered perspective.
Expectations:
Students will attend two in-person classes weekly, where they’ll engage in interactive discussions and hone their debating skills. Additionally, they’ll dedicate at least two days of guided work under the supervision of their homeschool teacher. There will be bi-weekly quizzes and two tests and the end of each grading term. There will also be a final debate in class. We could possibly compete in an outside tournament, depending on the interest of the class.
