Class Description –
Consumer Math equips the upper level high school student with the practical financial skills they need for adult life. Through real world scenarios and hand son problem solving, students learn how to manage personal finances responsibly and make informed decisions as consumers. Topics include budgeting, saving, banking, comparison shopping, taxes, payroll, discounts, interest, loans, and basic financial
planning. Students also explore the mathematics behind independent living—such as managing household expenses, understanding insurance, and evaluating major purchases.
By the end of the course, students will be able to apply mathematical reasoning to real life financial situations, develop confidence in handling money, and build foundational skills for future financial independence.
